Rules

The sporting rules are based on the F9U (Drone Racing) class rules stated in the Volume F9 Drone Sport of the FAI Sporting Code Section 4 - Aeromodelling. Based on the athlete’s quota, the scenario with 32 athletes qualified for the elimination sequence from the qualification rounds will be applied by including the double elimination sequence.

Tactics

Build great quality racing models.

Fly with a reliable and proven video transmitter.

Consistency wins in the different successive races. Flying without taking too much risk, looking to finish second in each race and taking benefit from other pilots crashing their models may also be a good tactic

Judging

The electronic timing system determines the lap times and rankings in each race.

The Pilot Judge ensures that the pilot concerned flies through or over every obstacle on the race circuit.
Scoring

In any race after the qualification, the first to arrive after completing 3 laps is first placed in the race, and so on. After the qualification stage, two losses for a competitor means an elimination from the competition.

The two best placed in the race will be directly selected for the next round. The athletes placed third and fourth score a loss.

Penalties

If, in a given lap of a race, a pilot does not fly in the prescribed manner (e.g. does not cross an obstacle, misses a pylon or flag, takes a short cut …) that lap will not be validated unless the pilot immediately and in a safe manner executes a manoeuvre to correct the mistake.

Disqualification from the race

Start before the start signal - Collision with another model when executing a manoeuvre to correct a mistake - Crossing of the safety line - Flying after
having removed (even temporarily) his/her headset goggles - Celebratory manoeuvre, especially after the pilot finishes - Hazardous piloting or other safety issue

Disqualification from the event

Use of a  non-authorized RC equipment, or other equipment that does not conform to the rules - Power emission of a video transmitter over the maximum authorized - Non-authorized activation of a video transmitter - Use during the competition of the same model by different competitors - Use of a model that does not fit the specifications stated in the rules - Flight on the racing circuit other than those scheduled or authorized by the organizer - Competitor not stopping after having been disqualified for a false start - Cheating or unsporting behaviour
