The following webpage contains main information for current and future SM World Cup Organizers, as well Competitors on the process of World Cups.

FAI Sporting Code

FAI Sporting Code, Part 4, Volumes ABR and SM, Edition January 1, 2024 shall be used to organize and conduct Space Models World Cup Competitions in 2024. They can be downloaded: Volume CGR - CIAM General Rules - Edition 2024 and Volume S - Space Models - Edition 2024

FAI Sporting Calendar

The FAI Sporting Calendar for Space Models Events is published at the FAI Event Page or at the General WC Competition Page.

  • If you wish to get more details on a specific event click at the title of this event (blue letters).
  • If you need to do any changes in relation to your event – contact the SM SC Chairman or WC Coordinator by email.
  • Important changes if approved shall be published in the FAI Sporting Calendar for SM and also distributed to all World Cup organizers by a Circular Email.
  • The organizers are not allowed to organize events out of the published FAI Calendar. If such an event is organized it shall neither be ranked according to the FAI rules nor the participants awarded with any World Cup or SMIR (Space Models International Ranking) points.

General Duties

SM World Cup Organizer
  • Must send Bulletin 1 to the S/C Chairman and World Cup Coordinator no later than 30 days (one month) prior the competition. The bulletin should contain all needed information, specified in the SM Sporting Code.
  • The Bulletin has to have all necessary data: date and venue of the competition, time schedule, names of the FAI Jury, Scale Judges and Range Safety Officer (RSO), offers for board and lodging. A Bulletin Template is available at:
  • The Organizer has to select the Jury members (3 persons), Judges (3-5 for S7) and RSO (1) from the current Judges and Experts lists presented on the FAI website: Judges or Experts.
  • The Jury president must be from another country. In case of three Scale judges – at least one judge has to be from another country. In case there are five judges – at least two judges have to fulfill this requirement. 
  • Prior the competition - check all FAI ID numbers of the competitors. The FAI database system is available upon request from FAI IT.
  • Please use the following format for the results lists:

  • Up to three days after the competition, the Organizer has to send the results to the Chairman and World Cup Coordinator, so the results can be distributed via the space community and the Current Placing Lists updated. The results include:
    • Original jury report – signed by jury members (scanned) – PLEASE USE BLACK AND WHITE SCANS AND FILES WITH MAX 1MB SIZE!
    • Jury report in word format
    • Original signed results by the jury, RSO and judges (scanned) – PLEASE USE BLACK AND WHITE SCANS AND FILES WITH MAX 1MB SIZE!
    • Results in excel format

Jury and Judges

Beside their duties coming from their functions they check if all competitors have correct data and if this is presented on all results lists. The Scale judges check if the Prototype and static points are correctly added to the competitor.

The Competitor(s)

Has to check if all his data (SURNAME Name, FAI ID, Country, J/S and Prototype in case of S7) are correctly written. It is recommended that the competitor checks his personal data and results after each competition and in case of a mistake to report this to the Chairman and World Cup Coordinator. This is recommended in both cases, prior the competition and during the distribution phase (CPLs and results distribution via mailing list). After the final deadline - there in no possibility to correct the results.

Standard of Organisation

Note that World Cup contests are expected to be run to a FAI required standard. 

Current Placing Lists

Current Placing Lists shall be prepared by the SM WC Coordinator as soon as possible after the results of last held event are received and they shall be distributed to all World Cup Organizers and other interested parties. If the results are received in the prescribed term of three days Current Placing Lists (CPL) shall be distributed within next seven days.

World Cup Diplomas and Medals

Official diploma and medals for overall Space Model World Cup winners are presented to winners at the CIAM Plenary meeting in April following the year of their victory. The winner in each class will hold the Official trophy for one year and will receive a medal and diploma. The second and third place flyers in each class will receive an FAI medal and diploma.
