The CIVL Bureau has unanimously voted to appoint Barbara Sonzogni as Chair of the Hang Gliding Committee as a CIVL Officer.

Barbara entered the world of free flight in 1997. For a decade, she worked in the administration of Delta Club Laveno, and for the past eight years she has also been serving as President of Aeroclub Lega Piloti. Since 2017, Barbara has been a CIVL delegate, supervised several Category 1 events as an FAI Jury member, and organized many events in Italy. Since 1998 she has played a key role in organizing over 40 competitions, including: 3 World Hang Gliding Championships, 2 European Hang Gliding Championships, and 4 Italian Hang Gliding Championships.

In 2020, she became Municipal Councillor for Sport in Laveno-Mombello, and since February 2025 she has also been serving as President of the Free Flight Technical Committee of the Aero Club d’Italia.
