The 7th FAI European Paragliding Accuracy Championships is going on. Myrianthe Ewington reports. Day 5 greeted the competitors with glorious sunshine and beautiful blue skies. Round 8 started sharply at 10.30 but the air was already starting to bubble! The first few pilots (both new and experienced) took maximum scores struggling to deal with the incredibly light winds and initial thermals.
Yesterday's round 6 had a remarkable number of dead center hits - five pilots ended the day with 000 in the results: Vlastimil Vachtl from Czech Republic, Samuel Sperber and Dominique Leclercq from France, Jaka Gorenc from Slovenia, Matthew Bignell from UK and Xhonatan Islami from Albania.
The second day of flying started mid-morning with ideal flying conditions... The second round, which was started the day before, was successfully completed and after a short break, the third round was also completed. This makes the event valid after just two days of flying. The fourth round was started but brought to a premature halt by a light rain shower just before the scheduled finish time. However, many excellent low scores were achieved including several dead centres (0cm) making the competition very tight.
