From 27 July to 4 August 2024, the French-German International Balloon Camp was held in Lorraine, in the Eastern region of France close to Sion, the 'City of Landscapes'. Forty-two people participated including 36 French and German youngsters.

From October 30 to November 3, 2024, the skies above Reimlingen, Bavaria, played host to an unforgettable cultural and aerial adventure. The German-French Balloon Kids Camp, supported by the French-German Youth Office (FGYO) and the FAI Ballooning Commission (CIA), brought together 19 young participants aged 8 to 14. Thirteen children came from Germany, while six traveled from France, creating a vibrant and diverse group.

The Balloon Federation of America (BFA) held two balloon youth camps this year in the USA. Both camps were sleep-over week-long camps.
The first BFA youth camp was the Southeastern Balloon Camp held June 18-23, 2024 in Cordele, Georgia.
On 27 October 2004, the American adventurer Steve Fossett set a new speed record in a Zeppelin NT airship. His speed of 115 km/h still stands today, 20 years on, as an absolute record.
Fossett managed to beat the existing record of 92.8km/h which had been set by James Dexter and Michael Kendrick in 2000.
