For Roland Pré, newly elected President of the FAI Education Commission (Educ), learning not only from successes, but also failures, is integral to embedding the spirit of aviation in the hearts and minds of young people.
The history of aviation reveals a wealth of old aircraft. Even experts and insiders have difficulty keeping track of them all. An astonishing number of gliders were designed and built as early as the 1930s, and in particular after the Second World War.
As these gliders were exclusively built from wood, more and more aeromodellers are building and flying replicas which are built to scale and, of course, also from wood.
At all organisational levels and in nearly all disciplines, recruiting young people into aeromodelling is a difficult undertaking. Clubs, associations and specialist organisations are all committed to rising to the challenge.

The Blaser Swisslube headquarters in Hasle Rüegsau, Switzerland was the site for the 2023 FAI Ballooning Commission (CIA) Plenary and Subcommittee (SC) meetings. This was the second in-person meeting for the CIA following the CV-19 pandemic in March 2020.

The 2023 FAI Ballooning Commission (CIA) Plenary Meeting was held in Rüegsau, Switzerland from 15 to 18 March. It was held at the headquarters of Blaser Swisslube AG.
