Gold Medal Haul for Host USA at 2024 FAI World Skydiving Championships
The 2024 FAI World Skydiving Championships have showcased the United States' dominance in the skies over Beaufort, North Carolina (5-11 October). Team USA secured seven gold medals across three disciplines, with an impressive sweep in Formation Skydiving.
Australia claimed four gold medals: two in Speed Skydiving – Female and Mixed Teams, and two in Wingsuit Flying - Performance and National Teams. France reached the top of the rankings in Artistic Events Freeflying and Wingsuit Acrobatic Flying.
The event drew almost 300 competitors, making it the biggest event on this year's skydiving calendar. Favourable weather conditions prevailed for five of the six competition days, enabling the completion of all rounds across every discipline.
FAI Skydiving Commission President and FAI Controller at the event Alberto Martin Paracuellos commented:
“What a great competition these FAI World Championships have been! Congratulations to all the competitors! Their performances and displays of skill have been truly impressive. I'd like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the organisers, Skydive Chicago and Paraclete XP, as well as Crystal Coast Skydiving. Their hard work really paid off. And let's not forget the dedicated Officials, who contributed to making these Championships a success.”
The competition witnessed the breaking of multiple FAI World (9) and Continental Records (58), underscoring the high calibre of the skydivers and the elite level of competition on display. The new records are awaiting receipt of full dossier and ratification by FAI.
