PG XC Pan American 2026 hosted by Castelo, Brazil

Following the resignation of the US organizer, the CIVL Bureau has accepted a bid from Castelo, Brazil, to host the 7th FAI Pan-American Paragliding Championships.

The event will take place from March 13 to March 21, 2026, and will be organized by Marcos Aurelio Pinheiro and Frank Brown. The organization has the support of:

CBVL (Brazilian Association)
FCVL (Capixaba Federation)
ACVL (Capixaba Association)
State of Espírito Santo
Federal Government
City Hall of Castelo
Fire Department
Police Department

The chosen dates coincide with the end of summer and the beginning of the driest months. The last major competition held there, a Paragliding World Cup (PWC) in the same period, successfully completed seven tasks.

The Uba take-off site is located on private land that holds public interest, meaning the government and landowner have granted full rights for its use without requiring special permission or fees.

This location has previously hosted:

Two National Championships (2012, 2013)
Three Paragliding World Cups (2013, 2015, 2018)
2015 World Cup in April, which saw seven tasks completed over eight flying days
The Uba take-off site is large, fully covered in grass, measuring approximately 110m in length and 50m in width. It sits 850m above the valley, facing north to northeast (N-NE), making it a natural sun collector. Even in light to moderate crosswinds or tailwinds, there is no need to use an alternative take-off site.

The area is spacious enough to accommodate:

Helicopter landings
Car, truck, and bus parking
Large crowds, as seen in the 2015 World Cup, which hosted 3,000 spectators and 500 vehicles
The facilities to be provided include:

A convenience store selling food, water, and beverages
Four toilets
Six tents, each measuring 6m x 6m
Additionally, the site is free of obstacles such as power lines, cables, or other hazards.
