IBD 2024-14, VFS Dive Pool Change for 2025
Vertical Formation Skydiving Dive Pool Change
In late 2022 it was shown that block 12 in the VFS pool could be performed in a manner that would bypass the intent of forcing a swap. In an attempt to rectify this the block was changed in 2023 to have one of the pieces perform a 540 degree turn instead of 180 and it was expected that this would force the swap as intended. Unfortunately this was not the case and competitors have expressed their dissatisfaction with the change as one piece effectively does nothing while the other performs the 540 turn.
An alternative has since been suggested, and this change will be made for the outdoor pool at the next plenary. If the Formation Skydiving Committee waits until then to make the change for indoor it would not take effect until the 2026 competition, so it was requested that an IBD be issued to allow the change to take effect for indoor directly after the outdoor competition in Beaufort this year. This would still give teams 6 months to prepare for the subsequent indoor competition next April. The ISC Bureau unanimously approved of this change and has issued IBD 2024-14.
You can find the IBD on the ISC website under: Documents-Interim Bureau Decisions; or under: Documents-Competition Rules (alongside the FS Rules)
