Final day bad weather – Closing Ceremony

On Thursday 30th October the weather was as in the forecast. Low clouds and rain so the Meet Director called for a Teamleader meeting at 08:30 and everyone was released until the Closing Ceremony.
The official results were announced by the Chief Judge and after two hours the World Cup and Asian Championships were valid. https://results.worldskydiving.org/FrontEnd/CompetitionCollection/1084
The Overall results remained unchanged with 3 rounds of male and 4 rounds of female Style.
The overall calculation is done by adding the individual rank of Accuracy and Style and the winner is the one with the lowest total.

The S&A Committee Chair Gerhard (Conan) Wagner called everyone to the open meeting (also known as competitor’s meeting) that is mandatory held at every First Category Event. The meeting started at 15:30, some future rule changes were discussed and Conan together with the two present members, Bruna and Ulf is looking forward to next year’s World Championships in Slovakia.

At 16:30 the award ceremony in the grand ballroom of the Skylight hotel was opened by the Organiser and ISC Delegate for China Mr. NIU Wen in presence of the town mayor of Ji’an and other officials. After a dance performance in traditional dresses, the Jury has declared the FAI Championships valid and the award ceremony for all World Cup Winners and Asian Champions took place.
As expected the Chinese anthem was the one played most because China had two strong teams in the World Cup which of course also were on top of the 1st Asian Championship rankings. But also German and Austrian hymn could be heard with the most prestigious Nation Overall going to Germany.
A very emotional moment was when Swedish Magnus Falk could climb on the podium to receive the bronze medal in the World Cup individual accuracy. Magnus is many years participating in FAI events and today in addition to his first FCE medal also celebrated his birthday together with his wife Meylin Sanchez who was on the judge panel.

Looking back to the past week, we could experience a well organised FAI Championship full of friendly hospitality and happy competitors in spite of the challenging weather.
Thank you ASFC !
