The 3rd FAI World Hang Gliding Class 1 Sport Championships have successfully concluded in Laveno-Mombello, Italy.

The event took place from June 1 to June 14, 2025. A total of six valid tasks were flown, with 48 pilots from 15 countries competing.

 

The Hang Gliding Sport Class World Champions are:

1. Peter Song (USA)

2. Alan Arcos (ECU)

3. Alexandre Ferreira (FRA)

Among the two women participating in the World Championship, Katia Bruni (ITA) finished 4th, and Thaise Galvan (BRA) placed 8th.

The Champion Nations are:

1. Italy

2. France

3. United Kingdom

Alongside the World Championship, the Valerio Albrizio Open Competition was also held. The winners of the open competition are:

1. Manfred Ruhmer (AUT)

2. Christian Ciech (ITA)

3. Gary Wirdnam (GBR)

The event ran from June 1 to June 14, 2025, organized by Delta Club Laveno and Aeroclub Lega Piloti, in partnership with the Comune di Laveno Mombello.

The competition was supported by the Camera di Commercio di Varese, Varese Sport Commission, and Comunità Montana Valli del Verbano, and held under the patronage of Regione Lombardia, Provincia di Varese, Comune di Cittiglio, and Comune di Sangiano.
